Specialty Starches

Our specialty starches, including modified starches such as maltodextrin, are highly appreciated for their exceptional quality and specialised functional properties. These ingredients help overcome textural challenges during food formulation and processing, ensuring your products maintain the indulgent experience that consumers desire.

Modified Starches

Modified starches are starch derivatives obtained by physically, enzymatically or chemically treating native starch, to change its intrinsic and extrinsic characteristics, thus enhancing their functional properties and elevating their performance in food products. Like unmodified starches but better, modified starches serve as excellent thickening, stabilising, gelling and texturising agents in your food and beverage product.

Applications

  • Solubility and Binding Abilities: Modified starches like maltodextrin improve solubility and act as binders, enhancing the overall quality and functionality of products such as powdered drinks, sauces and snack bars.

  • Clean-label/Zero-calorie Formulation: Modified starches obtained through physical modification methods, without the use of any chemicals, can be termed as clean-label. They can also be used as a filler or bulking agents in calorie-controlled foods, providing volume and texture without significantly increasing calorie content. With a growing trend towards health-consciousness and clean-label products, physically modified starches help in formulating products that prioritise natural ingredients and transparency, appealing to consumers who prioritise health and clean-label ingredients.
